West county seniors need you. Remember when giving a ride was the neighborly thing to do?  It still is. For over 12 years, the Sebastopol Area Senior Center has operated a Volunteer Driver Program to drive seniors to much-needed appointments, to get their groceries and medicine, and much more. Since the program’s inception, our volunteers have given over 37,000 rides which enables seniors to stay in their home past the point of being able to drive. Would you like to make a difference in your community? Join our valiant and esteemed team of volunteer drivers! Most of our drivers spend about 2 hours a week (or every other week), driving a senior to an important appointment.

The steps are simple to get approved:

1) Call our Transportation Coordinator Scotty King at 707-827-8429 or email scotty@sebastopolseniorcenter.org. 2) Make sure it’s the right fit! Once you receive and read the paperwork and determine you want the job, you’ll get your background checked by the local police department and download your driving record from the DMV site. Once we receive your paperwork, we’ll check your references. 3) Attend the online training (1-2 hours) with Scotty where you’ll learn how to track your rides and important safety measures. 4) After a safety inspection of your vehicle, you’re ready to hit the road and make a huge difference in the lives of seniors in our community.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team of esteemed and respected volunteer drivers! You can make a huge difference in the lives of our Sonoma County seniors.
