The five element or five phase system is at the foundation of classic Chinese medicine. It explains the relationship between our bodies and the seasons. In this course, we will discuss how this system of health highlights the interrelationship between our body and our environment and how you can use it in your own health care. This course will take a close look at the five phase system. The goal is to provide the tools to understand this system so that you may apply these concepts to your herbal medicine practice. Our focus will be on utilizing western herbs.

Each class in the series will correlate to a seasonal counterpart and discuss western herbs to support each phase as we progress throughout the year. We will cover a materia medica of herbs for each season, as well as foods and exercises to support each transition. This 5 class series is open to all levels of students but it is recommended that students have some western herbal experience.
