A Sebastopol Area Senior Center Virtual Day Trip. The San Francisco Art Scene of the 1940’s is a kaleidoscopic of illustrated art adventures investigating the decade that would catapult the world into the Beatnik 1950s. Beginning with the dynamic events that culminated with the 1939/1940 Treasure Island World’s Fair, this presentation will delve into the events of World War II that launched the Bay Area into a new cultural era. This story is peppered with art personalities like Ansel Adams, Mark Rothko, Grace McCann Morley, and many more.
Hosted by our day trip producers Emily and Kate and led by San Francisco Art Historian Jeff Gunderson, the Librarian and Archivist at the San Francisco Art Institute since 1981.
